Chris Salas is an artist & educator based in the Great Lakes region of the Midwest. In their current practice, Chris considers the relationship between heritage, memory, material, and material culture. Reckoning these topics across different spans of time, the timeline of their life, the timeline of their family, the timeline of their mexican-american culture, the timeline of rocks, the timeline of evolution. In particular, Chris is considering the historical relationship of corn (maíz) to humanity, and how the simple existence of the plant is a testament to the interconnected and migratory relationships of peoples across the American continents over a 9,000 year timespan.
